These rules apply to every recruiting contest Malört Meter runs. Each contest's dates and prize are shown on the contest banner in the app, and that announcement is part of these rules.
Malört Meter is an independent project ("Sponsor"). Contests are not sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Jeppson's Malört, the Carl Jeppson Company, CH Distillery, any other malört maker, any bar, Apple or Google.
Each contest runs between the start and end dates shown in its announcement, in Chicago time. Recruits count only if they join during that window.
Legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 21 or older at entry and have a Malört Meter account in good standing. People who run Malört Meter, and members of their immediate families and households, can't win.
Share your personal invite link or code. A friend counts as one recruit when they join Malört Meter with your code during the contest period and log at least one price before the contest ends. Recruits must be real, different people, 21 or older, each using their own mobile number. Recruits whose accounts are deleted or suspended before we confirm the winner don't count.
This is a contest of effort, not a game of chance. There's no random drawing. The eligible member with the most qualifying recruits at the end of the contest period wins, according to our records. If there's a tie, the member who reached that number first wins (the one whose last qualifying recruit qualified earliest). We check every recruit before awarding a prize, and our decisions are final.
The prize is described in the contest announcement. Prizes never include alcohol, and they can't be redeemed for alcohol. Prizes can't be transferred or exchanged for cash. If a prize becomes unavailable, we may substitute one of equal or greater value. Winners are responsible for any taxes. For prizes worth $600 or more, we'll need tax information before awarding the prize.
We'll notify the winner by text, using the number on their account, within 7 days after the contest ends. If the winner doesn't respond within 7 days, isn't eligible, or doesn't follow these rules, they forfeit the prize and we may award it to the next eligible member. The winner's display name may be shown on the contest board in the app. You can ask who won through the contact form for 60 days after a contest ends.
Self-referrals, duplicate or fake accounts, borrowed, temporary or bulk phone numbers, paying people to sign up, fake prices, and any other way of gaming the count disqualify you. They may also get your account banned. Recruits removed for breaking the Terms don't count.
We may cancel, change or pause a contest if fraud, technical problems or anything else outside our control affects it, and award the prize based on the eligible results up to that point. To the extent permitted by law, by entering you release Sponsor from liability related to the contest and to accepting or using a prize. Personal information is handled under our Privacy Policy. These rules are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois.
